Journal kept from 1839-41 by Louisa L. Waterhouse, wife of prominent physician Benjamin Waterhouse of Cambridge, Mass. In addition to diary-like entries, Waterhouse recounts conversations with her husband and others in an interview-like format. Among the topics discussed are books and reading, slavery, cats, politics, religion, her domestic help, and (briefly) her husband's profession.
